Although she received a BFA in textiles from California College of Arts and Crafts (1986), you may recognize Lisa Fidler's name from her work as a studio jeweler. Her narrative-based pieces can be found in private and museum collections in the United States and abroad, including the Racine Museum of Art and the Laguna Art Museum. It has been published in numerous catalogues and books, including '500 Rings', 'Found Object Art', and 'Trashformations'. In 2004, while teaching a 2-month jewelry course at the Penland School of Crafts, Lisa was re-inspired to return to her textile 'roots' by the class in the next studio. The felting they were doing proved irresistible, and when her course was over she began to investigate how to make the process more her own. Her jewelry had always incorporated found and recycled materials, and this interest has translated into her current work- made entirely from recycled wools. Lisa currently lives and works in the San Francisco Bay Area.
